Katherine “Kathy” Crawford Hicks

Katherine “Kathy” Crawford Hicks, age 73, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, at Lyons View Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Kathy spent most of her life in the Solway community and was a devoted member of Solway Church of God, where she faithfully served as a church vocalist and pianist for many years.

A 1971 graduate of Karns High School, Kathy began her professional career with Colonial Freight Systems. She later worked at Parkwest Medical Center before joining the Covenant Health Education Department. Her final employment was with Woodhaven Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens. Throughout the years, Kathy also shared her musical talents by singing and playing the piano for countless weddings and funerals. The last five years of Kathy’s life were spent as a resident of Lyons View Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Hicks; her parents, Henry and Rose Crawford; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Betty Crawford; sister and brother-in-law, Lynda and Randy Dew; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Lona Crawford; nephew, Rocky Crawford; and great-nephew, James Baldwin.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Yvonne Crawford; nephews, Robby (Michelle) Crawford and Steve (Ann) Dew; nieces, Marvina Baldwin, Valerie (Todd) Ellis, Susan (Steve) Mitchell, and Donna (Craig) Grace; niece by marriage, Lori Crawford; and special cousin, Phyllis Hunt. Kathy was also a loving great-aunt to 18 great-nieces and nephews and 10 great-great-nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Kathy’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 8, at 3:00 p.m. at Solway Church of God, 3317 Solway Road, Knoxville, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Solway Church of God in Kathy’s memory

Above all, Kathy was devoted to Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, and to her beloved family and church. Though her song on earth has ended, the melody of her faith, love, and service will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
