Andre Harold Baraw

Andre Harold Baraw “Andy” 63, of Maryville, TN, formerly of Derby, VT, continued on his journey to eternal rest on July 10, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. Andy was born on August 3, 1960 in Vernon, CT to Harold William Baraw Jr and Darlene (Colt) Baraw. He grew up in Coventry CT and spent his childhood summers at the family camp in Derby, VT on Salem Lake where he and his 4 siblings enjoyed many adventures together swimming, boating and fishing to name just a few. Andy was an Avid fisherman for most of his life and spent many hours fishing after work on Salem and Little Salem Lake in Derby, VT. He served in the US Navy from Aug 1977 til his honorable discharge in Aug 1981. While in the Navy he served on the USS Richmond K Turner as a machinist. He traveled to many foreign lands including Spain, Italy, Yugoslavia and Romania.

He moved to Glover VT in 1992 and worked at Sel Bar weaving and drilled wells for Green Mountain Drill Company out of Putney, VT. In 1997 he joined North Country Engineering in Derby as a machinist and was employed there for 22 years until leaving to move to Maryville TN in 2019. In TN he worked for XTreme Tower Products as a machinist until his ill health forced him to retire in April 2024.

In 1997 he met the love of his life, Tracey (Baker) Baraw and they were married in Coventry VT on October 9, 1999 and made their home in Derby, VT for 21 yrs. Together they raised two wonderful daughters, Devon James (Randy) of N. FT Myers, FL and Hannah R. Baraw of Maryville, TN.

After having raised their girls & many wonderful years spent in VT Tracey and Andy decided to move to East TN to start an “early” retirement of sorts in a warmer climate with more time to travel and visit family in FL and time exploring the southern states which included Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Kentucky, Ohio & N. Carolina. East TN and the Smoky Mtns had been very good for their wayfaring souls.

On their journey in life Andy and Tracey also enjoyed many walks and talks together, time boating, fishing and catching sunsets on Lake Memphremagog. They traveled many miles across the country together including numerous family trips to the beaches of Maine and Florida, lots of camping and 4 wheeling in northern NH, and a couple of different visits to the Wild West including Las Vegas NV, Colorado, S. Dakota, Utah, Yellowstone and the grand Teton Mtns of Wyoming. Andy loved to travel near and far and especially enjoyed time spent with his family. He was a great cook and grilled the best burgers around. He was a gentle & kind soul, loving and faithful husband, father and grand father. He never fussed much about anything and truly just enjoyed life and took things in stride, the good and the bad. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, daughters and grandsons, family and friends. We wouldn’t have missed it for the world! ❤️

Andy was predeceased by his father, Harold Baraw and his brother Timothy Baraw.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Tracey Baraw of Maryville, TN, His mother, Darlene Baraw of Derby Line, VT, His brothers, William (Laurie) Baraw of Coventry, CT, Peter (Terry) Baraw of Spring Hill, FL and sister Bonnie (Rob) Baraw of Derby Line, VT. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” ~
